Art therapy is a creative, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses art materials and the creative process to help people explore emotions, process experiences, and find healing. You don’t need to be an artist to benefit — art therapy is about expression, not perfection.*
Through painting, drawing, collage, or other forms of creative exploration, art therapy provides a space to express what words sometimes cannot. The act of creating helps calm the nervous system, deepen self-awareness, and bring insight to experiences that may feel confusing or overwhelming.
In our sessions, I combine clinical counseling with creative methods that invite both the mind and body into the healing process. You may find that images, colors, and symbols express emotions more easily than words — and that the creative process itself becomes a pathway toward balance, resilience, and renewal.
✨ Art therapy can help you reconnect with your inner world — transforming pain into understanding and self-expression into healing.
✨Art Therapy Can Support:
- Anxiety, depression, or stress
- Trauma recovery
- Grief and loss
- Self-esteem and identity
- Life transitions
- Addiction and recovery
✨ Materials and Creative Tools
You are welcome to use any art materials you already have at home — there’s no need for special supplies. Art therapy is about connection and expression, not the materials themselves.
If you’d like a starting point, I often recommend:
- 18×24 drawing paper for open, full-body expression
- Chalk pastels and oil pastels for sensory connection and emotional release
But truly — anything can be used. Markers, pens, colored pencils, paint, or even simple household materials like magazine clippings or found objects can be powerful creative tools. What matters most is how the process helps you connect to yourself.
